Life in the Field: First Baptism

The mission district all together!
Elder Jones had an exceptionally fantastic week in Mexico! He was able to have his first baptism on Saturday. At the baptism, he gave a talk on the Gift of the Holy Ghost and how important eternal families are. There were also a lot of vacationers in Guadalajara this week, so they were able to have a lot of great gospel discussions! Here is an excerpt from Dallin's letter:

A lot of people were on vacation this week, so we had more success with meeting people and teaching which was sweet. We have a new investigator which was a reference. He is a friend of Guermo, and his name is Adrian. He has some drug and drinking problems and he wants to stop. He saw that Guermo is much happier without any of it and he wants to join the church. We invited him to get baptized and he accepted! We are going to have a FHE with the Robles family and he is going to come!

Sergio got baptized between the first and second session of conference which was nice! We asked his 10 year old daughter to give her testimony about eternal families, which was really strong and powerful. After, I gave a talk about the Gift of the Holy Ghost and Eternal families. We put a lot of focus on eternal families. We sung "Families Can be Together Forever" and other songs about family. We told Sergio about 4 weeks ago that our goal for him wasn't just baptism. We taught him that his goal is to go to the temple and have an eternal family. When it comes to missionary work, you have to think with the end in mind. You have to think about them in some temple whites. When you do missionary work like that, your converts are going to stay strong and active.

Conference was good. I listened to it in English which was nice. We were really spoiled this week and ate with the Bartolo family this whole week. Their house is really small and pretty bad, but gosh she is the best person ever. She always helps the missionaries and feeds us. Her food is the best ever and I love her to death!

Keep writing and praying! Love you all!
