Life in the Field: Learn Wisdom in Thy Youth

Sunday visitors from President & Sister Eggington!
This week was okay... we walked a lot again... and we walked.... and yeah.... I was sick again! I was taking the pills that doctor gave me in the US, but what I had was a stomach infection, but I feel really good now :)))) but I'm down to 240 pounds i think.... or 235... Hahaha pretty nuts!!!! Don't worry, I'm feeling good again!

We had some new investigators, but no one came to church... its kinda weird that we aren't having a lot of success when we are working hard, but God knows why and I feel good about the work we have put in. It's just a little difficult at times because I get blisters from all the walking and working, but it's fine!

Today was fun! We went to a part of the city that was pretty cool. It was called Parian. We got some huge burgers and ate well! :) I also bought some ice cream, which was great! I got some avocado ice cream... it was super good! It was basically like eating an avocado, but sweet!

We saw the new couple missionaries yesterday at church, Elder and Sister Anderson. They are really cool, and learning Spanish as well! Elder Anderson served his mission in Norway! He is super cool and nice! Overall, a good Sunday. We ate with the stake president and all was well!

This week we are going to have zone meeting, so I'll get my package Friday! :)

That's about it :) life is good and i hope we can have a good week!

Scripture to Ponderize:
Alma 37:35 "O, remember, my son, and learn wisdom in thy youth; yea, learn in thy youth to keep the commandments of God."

Love you family!

Life in the Field: First District Meeting

Thank You Carlsbad 4th Ward Primary for the awesome package and journal!
This week was good. I'm tired but happy! A lot of working and walking and helping my district. Let's see how it goes!

Elder Herbert is my companion. He is pretty cool. He has 13 months in the mission. He is from Tamaulipas, Mexico. We get along well and our lessons are sooo much better. Every lesson I've felt the spirit so much stronger. So, I'm happy!

We have a new family to teach. I forgot their names, but they are hippies and don't use shoes. Their son has sweet long hair! Hahaha! So awesome. We also have some new investigators that are police officers and they are golden. I think we will baptize them soon! Next week we should have a baptism! Pray for Monica Barrios. She is so ready, just needs a little more help!

Today we played soccer with some kids in the ward which was fun. Everyone loved my Chivas jersey! The other elders in our ward are a little fried. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with them. I need to love them!

Besides that, nothing new really. Just learning the area is a little crazy. The bishop is really cool. He is helping us. Besides that, we are just enjoying life. It's kinda rough at times learning everything from scratch together but its fun. The area is nice and BIG.

I gave my first district meeting which was cool. I had a Zone Leader and the AP in my meeting! Hahaha! That was fun. Baptism by fire! They all loved it, so that was good. :)

Besides all of that, the house doesn't smell girly anymore But, it's kinda girly inside, but whatever. Hahaha!

Love You!
Elder Herbert
"Let thy bowels also be full of charity towards all men, and to the household of faith, and let virtue garnish thy thoughts unceasingly; then shall thy confidence wax strong in the presence of God; and the doctrine of the priesthood shall distil upon thy soul as the dews from heaven." D&C 121:45

Life in the Field: District Leader & A New Area

This week was good! We started out the week with a Family Home Evening with Adriana! That went really well! We played Book of Mormon charades, where you act out a scene from the scriptures. Not only the Book of Mormon, but The Bible as well. It was super fun and we did it with all the young adults as well! Overall, a great night! To end, Elder Castillo and I acted out David and Goliath! It was pretty sweet!

That week we also had a zone meeting. We had a play during it where I acted. Hahaha! I was pretty funny, I was making everyone laugh! :) Overall, pretty sweet. As always took some sweet pictures and selfies ;)

Miguel Angel got baptized! He was an investigator of the sisters! He is legit! He came with us to visit people, and he wants to serve a mission! So after he was baptized, we asked the sisters if we could talk to everyone. Two people were baptized and a bunch of non-members were there. We asked them how they felt and such. After that, we started to invite people to be baptized right there.... SUPER LEGIT! Overall, a lot of great success and the sisters were surprised, but thankful we were there!

We took some good bye photos from people in the ward. Really sad, but it's okay!

I'm now in Guadalajara in Las Juntas. I'm District Leader, and the oldest in the district! We are opening the area since the sisters have left. Our house is nice, but smells like girl, and there are girl clothes in the closet. A little bit of a shock for us Elders! HAHA!

Love you all so much & Thank You for the support!

Life in the Field: The Long Way Home

This week was good! I had interviews with President, which was nice! It was really good to just talk and talk and talk. He is an awesome President. Really shows his love for us. I talked to his wife for like 40 minutes about Disneyland and about life. She really loves to talk! It made me happy. I showed her my Disneyland pass and she was super duper happy!

Today, we went Downtown. TONS OF AMERICANS! Well not a ton, but a bit. We got some money out of the bank and then ate with some of the Elders, the zone leaders and another companionship. MY SANDWICH WAS HUGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I still have a part of it in the house for tonight ;)

The other missionaries that were staying with us found a house and moved out Saturday. I swept the house after they left because they left it dirty! Oh well, now our house is pretty and clean! Next Monday is transfers and I will probably have a new companion.

Crazy story time....

So we were leaving a lesson, and decided to go the long way back because the short cut is pitch black-- no street lights. So, we took the longer way and were walking and got to the main road. We were walking, and there is an on ramp to the highway in front of us. A car was coming, didn't see the curve in the road, and drove through it! The car flew and almost landed in the highway! He was on the side walk, and he stopped about 6 or 8 yards in front of us! If we had taken the short way, we would have been hit! Lesson learned! If you're obedient, and follow promptings and laws of the land (taking the long way with light!) you are blessed. That's the secret of life, obedience!

Thanks for all the letters and love!!!!!!!
